Kevin joined Shannon in 2016 to help operate the Strategic Financial Planning West Australian office. It was a decision motivated by a strong friendship and sharing similar principles on how a Financial Planning offering should benefit its clients.
Kevin has worked in the Financial Services industry since 2006, having previously worked in Marketing and Legal sectors. Kevin’s introductory role to this industry was consulting to client and advisory firm relationships for the platform provider, Asgard Wealth Solutions. This role inspired Kevin to seek a position directly in the Financial Planning space and this opportunity came from Westpac Private Bank in 2008. Kevin continued to work in the affluent & high-net worth client offering within Westpac Financial Planning for the next 8 years, building a successful business and being rewarded with regular ‘Top Team Qualifier’ recognition for high performance and compliance.
Kevin has a strong focus on open and friendly collaboration to understand what matters most to his clients and their families, he believes this is the catalyst to then help them achieve their lifestyle goals through effective financial strategies. It is his desire to take the complication out of financial planning and encourage clients to take a hands-on approach to securing their financial future.
As a Senior Adviser, Kevin specialises in:
Superannuation & Retirement Planning
Self-Managed Super Funds
Tax-Effective Investing & Wealth Creation
Debt Reduction strategies
Kevin was born in England but was raised and schooled in Perth since his family moved here in 1988, a decision that has never been regretted and has allowed him to enjoy a great career and lifestyle with much better weather!
Tell me a bit about yourself...
What are your interests outside of work?
Most importantly, I value spending time ‘enjoying life’ with my partner, family and friends. This can take on many shapes such as entertaining at home, frequenting restaurants & bars and even travelling around our beautiful country or flying abroad.
I am an avid sports fan and hold memberships to the West Coast Eagles, Perth Wildcats & Perth Racing. I (frustratingly) enjoy hitting the golf course and wishing I put more time into practicing between rounds. I also enjoy picking up my guitar and reminding everyone in the room how average my singing voice is.
What is your favourite holiday destination?
Being born in England, I still have plenty of family in London and I cherish a trip over there every few years to spend time with them and enjoy all of the many London attractions. I have an amazing family and we always thoroughly enjoy our time there. Travelling all that way, we make a European getaway compulsory on the way back - In recent times, it has been Italy & Spain, both of which I rank very highly on my list.
Closer to home, I enjoy travelling down south to Dunsborough and the broader South-West WA region. I also count Bali as close to home, considering the short flight time and most of WA being there at any given time. Bali is a wonderful getaway that offers something for everyone. Our regular visits even inspired me to learn Indonesian, a slow work in progress…
What is your favourite book?
I go through books at an alarmingly fast rate, which means that I have enjoyed many amazing reads along the way. Fiction is my preference, however, Autobiographies of people I admire are always enlightening. In recent times, a standout author for me is Harlan Coben and I particularly enjoy his entire Myron Bolitar range.
If you could invite 6 people for dinner, living or historical, who would they be?
I’m going to have to cop-out on this one, mainly because there are not enough hours in the day to ponder and shortlist all of my possible options and reasoning. Let’s just say I would change it to a 100 person cocktail party and the guest list is under construction… Apply within.
